Illhoi Yoo is an assistant professor of the department of Health Management and Informatics, University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He gained his M.S. degree in information science from University of Pittsburgh and his Ph.D. in information science and technology from Drexel University. His research interest is in semantic-oriented MEDLINE search and biomedical literature mining using biomedical ontologies (UMLS and MeSH). He has published 26 peer-reviewed papers in various journals, conferences and books for the last three years (as of August, 2008) . He won the best paper award as the co-author of a paper published in the Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (IEEE CIBCB 2004) on Oct. 7, 2004. He co-chaired an International Workshop on Knowledge Discovery and Management in Health Informatics in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedicine 2007 (BIBM 2007) and is going to co-chair an International Workshop on Biomedical and Health Informatics in conjunction with BIBM 2008. He has served as program committee member for 11 conferences/workshops in 2007 and 2008.
