Welcome to the official website for the University of Missouri Informatics Institute (MUII)! Check back frequently as we spread the word of our great interdisciplinary informatics program, highlighting our students' success, alumni news, and research collaborations with numerous faculty and departments here on the MU campus and throughout the country.
Established in 2008, MUII has led the way in cutting edge informatics research. We host 41 core faculty members from 17 departments and 8 colleges/schools that support our unique and interdisciplinary doctoral degree program with emphasis/concentration areas in bioinformatics, health informatics, and geoinformatics. Our faculty and students conduct active informatics research with extramural funding from the NIH, NSF, AHRQ, USDA, CMS, US Department of Education, and other industry sponsors. Our graduates report a 100% placement rate, holding positions as ranked faculty and postdocs in academia, as well as researchers at National Laboratories and private sectors in business and industry. For more detailed biographies of our alumni, look for our "Alumni Update: Where are They Now?" section in each newsletter.
The content you will find on this website focuses on our aggressive research strategic plans in four areas: Clinical Informatics, Big Data Analytics, Translational Bioinformatics, and Next Generation Sequence Analysis. We believe informatics and data analytics offer key solutions to the world's most pressing challenges in healthcare and food for the future.
It's my honor to work with our talented faculty, students, and staff, as well as all the outstanding people associated with and supporting MU Informatics Institute, as we go forward.
